For more than a quarter of a century, Hampshire High School has stood as a cen-
ter of learning in our community. Hundreds of students have gone out from this school
to take their places in all walks of life. The records of achievement they left behind
and measures Aof success which have come to them, indicate that Hampshire High was
and is an institution of learning of which any community might be proud to call its
own.
Yes, Hampshire High School stands as a monument to education. Figuratively
speaking, we might say it has been a shield against illiteracyg opened the way to
learning: given light to knowledge and truth: and withstood the storms of intolerance.
Within its walls warm friendly truth has radiated trust and friendship among students
and teachers.
In appreciation to all who have helped to maintain Hampshire High School -
To the administration which sponsored our education -
To every teacher who has taught in the class room -
To the principals who have guided us -
To all other school personnel -
To the parents and patrons who have inspired us -
To this community which supported us -
To alumni, students, and future students -
To P.T.A. , Local and County Board, and Court -
To every wholesome and uplifting influence which has helped to make Hampshire
High School what it has been and is - we, the staff of the Booster, dedicate the 1958
edition of our annual.
And So To These - - -

JOE DAVIS JOHNSON
Sept. 3, 1942 - Nov. 16, 1957
Remember him? We do, and we're sure you will too, because he was a student
here at Hampshire High not so very long ago. It seems only yesterday he was
listening to the World Series, or planning basketball strategy. He was really a
swell fellow and loads of fun even if he did detest Biology fwe can understandy.
He seemed to be a happy-go-lucky sort of guy, but underneath life was some-
thing real and precious. For him life meant overcoming obstacles that we took
for granted. It will be good if we can accomplish as much in our years as he
did in his short lifetime!
