THE WASHINGTON TRIP 3 With our suitcases piled high, we juniors and seniors who went on the Washington trip anxiously waited for the ll:O6 at the Erie Station. As the train sped through Ohio, we gathered in our own groups and munched on potato chips and drank Pepsi. Before turning in for the night we gathered in the lounge of the Old Bay steamer as we travelled from Old Point Comfort, Virginia back to Washington on the Potomac River.

PLANNING THE FUTURE Together with Morton High School we held our seventh annual College Night in November here at Hammond High. Representatives from over seventy different universities. colleges. nurs- ing schools, business colleges, and art schools were present from all over the nation. We who plan to go to college. had the opportunity to find out advantages. admission requirements social life, and activities. Many of our parents came along to help us judge which school best fitted our needs. XVe left that night with a better idea on how to plan for our future. IN THE SPOTLIGHT if you were lucky, gossiping, giving impromptu hair cuts, and singing the XVz1sl1ington Waddlt ' every ten minutes. Squeezed in between, :ire nostalgic memories of those bus drivers, beautiful full scenery and that dead skunk on Skyline Drive in Virginia. delicious gingerbread cookies :it Wfillizimsluurg. and getting sen sick aboard the Old Bay Line steamer, Above: ln Arlington, Virginia, we saw the change of guards at the Tamb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington Na- tional Cemetery, Judy Crouch took the wheel of the steamer enroute to Washington, D.C. down the Potomac. We became weary as our long iourney neared its end. The trip had been exciting, interesting, and well worth our time. Home once again! Hammond looked better than ever even though the same buildings, trains and smoke were still there. fjv Y, . if
