Many of our parents came along to help us judge which school best fitted our needs. XVe left that night with a better idea on how to plan for our future. Helen Kindle, Mrs. William Gre- gas. and Sharon Buuerlein listened cttentively as the Rev. Marion Fosh, pastor of c Wheaton church. told them about Bob Jones Uni- versity in South Carolina. Page Eleven THE WASHINGTON TRIP 3 With our suitcases piled high, we juniors and seniors who went on the Washington trip anxiously waited for the ll:O6 at the Erie Station. Before turning in for the night we gathered in the lounge of the Old Bay steamer as we travelled from Old Point Comfort, Virginia back to Washington on the Potomac River. XVe students get out of high school what we put into it. The number of us who participate in clubs put in time and .effort to achieve a goal. Whzit we get out of it is a satisfaction of achievement, responsibility, respect, and a lot of fun. We are grateful to the club spon- sors who spend their free time organi- zing clubs and offering advice about problems and purposes. Clubs benefit the entire school bodyg through their efforts we have the Mardi Gras, soc hops, and the cour- tesy campaign. The Yuletide auditorium pro- gram carried the theme, Christmas, U.S.A. After a tour through the country they stopped at Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where the entire group sang the Hallelujah Chorus as the finale. T. Muri, the singing of the A Cappella Choir, and the receiving of our diplomas. SENIQR CLASS OF 1957 The days of high school. happy ones of fun and laughter, are now over for the seniors. The past four years are now memories of the football games, soc- hops, bonfires, Mardi Gras, sectionals, spring semi-formal, plays and the proms. The seniors spent nearly a thousand days learning and preparing for that day when they would use all the knowledge and understanding they had stored up from their days of high school education. The last year had been a busy one for the seniors. In the fall they had their pictures takenl then in the winter they paid their dues and or- dered graduation invitations, As spring rolled around, caps and gowns were ordered, prom tickets were bought and Baccalaureate took place. Finally Commencement Day arrived and the senior class left to go out into the world, some to continue their education, some to find their place in the business world. is r,Qf4'5?31f-ftw,'P-.- P' , . ,X The Senior Class elected as their president. Lloyd Wiborg, vice-president, Bob Soderstrom and secretory-treasurer, Phyllis Johnson. A common scene about school during the last few days is the signing of the Dunes, a reminder of days past at Hammond High. Honor Day was a day dedicated to those seniors who achieved success in their individual fields of study. Those oufsfanding students were recognized in an auditorium program.
