Science and Safety 14wardA Hammond High joins approximately 1,361 other schools on the National School Safety Honor Roll. A letter sent by Mr. Forrest E. Long, one of the judges, congratulated the entire teaching and student body of Hammond High on attaining this honor. An honor certificate was posted on the board outside the office. To be a member of this organization a school must fill out an application and be accepted by a group of honor roll judges. ln the letter sent by Mr. lorrest the first paragraph read: All schools exerting exceptional effort in safety education and whose program has been evaluated and recommended to the National Safety Coun- cil by .1 local committee of four, receive special recognition by being listed on the National School Safety Honor roll. Every year a form containing 24 questions must be filled out. Enough of these questions must be answered to indicate a well-rounded program which serves local community needs. Schools that meet these requirements receive a certificate indicating the number of consecutive years the school has main- tained Honor Roll standing. AWARDED CITATIQN Karen Berg, captain of the Monitors, presented the National Safety Award certificate to Mr. Norman Beyer, who accepted it in behalf of Hom mond High School.
