Homecoming '7O'? For awhile, Homecoming '70 was a dirty word. Stu Board, in an attempt to make Homecoming more relevant to today's student body, devised a pro- gram which eliminated much of the tradition of the weekend. When several sentimental students com- plained, the weekend was re-planned with all the old traditions intact. A certain amount of dissen- tion remained in the form of Susie Creamcheese, Action Committee's protest candidate for Home- coming Queen. Susie Creamcheese, however, did not win. Thursday night, Joneen Gaylord was crowned to reign over the weekend's activities, and Joan Berger won the talent show. Friday night, a well-attended peanut party was held in the snack bar. The Pipers fell to Gustavus by a score of 13-0 Saturday afternoon. Culminating the activities were the semi-formal dance held Saturday night and an informal concert in the ballroom Sunday evening featuring the Pair Extraordinaire. In gen- eral, Homecoming attendance was minimal, prompting a question: if a change in the tradition was not wanted, why was the attendance at the weekend's activities so very poor?
