He examines it and finds it more truly beautiful Than a diamond. He puts it into his pocket And it is his. Each day he is able to gaze at it and to know what beauty is Then he dropped it And watched it wash back into the sea. But he could not forget the crystal. Whenever the world became too ugly to bear, The student could always think of the crystal, And know that there was still transcendence. The same student once knew a man Who eminated the validity of human love. He knew the man for only a relatively short period of time. And when the man left and was caught up in the vastness Of humanity, The student did not forget him. And everytime life became impossbile And the actions of men seemed unbearable, The student remembered the one man so Capable of generosity, sensitivity, kindness and spirit. And the student knew that life was meaningful. VX. Wig ' Y S , 1 N 0LIl MAI ...M X ,br-k, 'N N 4 ....-1 FACULTY AND AIIMINISTRATIUN Deans CHARLES R.
