HISTORY OF THE '53 CLASS Let us turn back the hands of time and find the many torn calendar pages. Ah yes, a fatal September morning. The scene: First grade classroom--cast: A frantic teacher, happy mothers who were free at last, and many plaid dresses, sailor suits, and corduroy overalls full of devilment-us! Camera! Action! And Remember When? First Grade: Martin Hatchefs feet were not big? First day of full schedule every- one tried to go home at recess, and some lucky ones succeeded? Fourth Grade: , Doris Lassiter and Nellie Richardson loved Miss Moody so well they were always staying in for her? johnny Carter and Miss Langston were good friends too? Fifth Grade: Martin Hatcher was so in love with Shirley Baucom and wrote such mad love letters that Mrs. Barrington read them to the class? The Dizzy Dames was formed, and things began to happen-even in the cemetery? Shirley Matheson made Hamlet her home, and we,ve been listening to her ever since? Sixth Grade: Bobby Williams proved to the Pansy F etner girls that there was another school in town? Charlie McKee became his partner, and they not only snowed the girls but raided their refrigerators too? Sonny Bennett was the first one to start going steadyv and let a girl wear his ring-Cub Scout ring at that! jack Brigman plagued Mrs. Keziah constantly and now entertains third period study hall with many interesting numbers? 16 T l
