has aa My As I leave the school campus where I ve taught for nearly twenty years I begrn thrnkrng of the senrors wrth whom I graduated rn 1953 My thoughts are rnterrupted as I see a group of small boys rushrng towards me holdrng out newspapers and callrng out loudly Read the Scott and Hayes News I buy one from a small tow headed lrttle boy whom I recognrze rmmedrately to be one of Pat Dolan P offsprrng I step from the corner of Compton Street rnto my new jet square wheeled Dodge aford desrgned b, Dennrs Lawrence ls I pass the cemetery on my way home I see Nrck Kraemer and Don Lancaster busrly drgs mg the rave of the handsome hot rod drrver Kenny Ferry who rn hrs last race smashed rntothe moon He had been under the watchful care of Alpha Mae Huebert who brags that she rs the only nurse who has restored every one of her patrents to therr eternal restmg place Takrng my newspaper I frnd a large prcture on the fron t page of the face of Irm Rowe As I glance through the artrcle I frnd that Sherrff B111 Derryberry rs chasrng thrs habrtual crrmrnal for takrng cand from one of the ner hbor s babres If caught he wrll be sentenced for a lrfe s term to Alcatraz by Judge Gerald Burgess Turnrng the page of the newspaper I see another prcture whrch I recognrze as that of Nadrne Arnold who rs now a concert srnger wrth Lrma Enns her pranrst They are plannrng a concert here rn the Gould Memorral Burldrn under the careful organrzatron of Mr Paul Wenner I must call Mrss Loretta Thew to see rf she would lrke to go wrth me for I feel that l surely shouldn t mrss thrs rmportant occasron Mrss Thew has sadly turned down Fred Hall s proposal so as to marntarn her desrgnrn career Mr Hall had been the Presrdent of the Bachelors Club untrl he met Nlrss Thew and then he resrgned to allow Sherrell Corron to take hrs place Poor mherrell has a terrrble heart drsease whrch Doctor Pete Vrdaurr dragnosed as love srckness Ile says that most any day now Sherrell wrll have to grve up hrs posrtron and serve the rest of hrs lrfe as a husband Later that evenrng when Loretta and I arrrve at the Gould Audrtorrum we are rven a seatrng arrangement card by John Torres As I step rnto the vestrbule I see Marra von Lrlranfeld Toal who has just returned from Germany to be present at thrs great occasron We reet each other wrth a few words before orng to our separate seats To my amazement I see my place rs located behrnd the only mrllronarre, rn town Mr James Rermer One could hear a prr drop as the mayor of the town Irtd von Prngle steps to the platform He has been asked to run as Vrce Presrdent or the U 5 wrth Clrfford Wells as presrdent rn the next natronal electron I now have exhausted the lrst of 1953 senrors and I feel very certarn that each member of the class wrll stand behrnd these two rn the next electron for wrthout our contrrbutron to thrs world wrth all our talent thrs country would be rn sad condrtron todav , . r '- . y , . -- U f I I - .
