'17' AI 5 5folix5x5ze HAMILTON CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL W26 Ram PROGRESS THROUGH EDUCATION l 965 HAMILTON, OHIO FATHER CHARLES BERGEDICK, S.M. CHAPLAIN OF ST. PATRICK'S COLLEGE ASABA, NIGERIA eclica fion The Marianist man is dedicated to the work of Catholic education. Under the banner of this most worthy cause the member of the Society of Mary goes wherever he is assigned, even to the mission lands of South America, China, or Africa. In our most recent world history we have seen the young and troubled nations of Africa awakening to independence. Before these countries gained their self-government, as now, they were aware of the influences of the cultures which civilized them. This is Progress through Education. This past year, a native of our city, who was chaplain of our school, teacher, and Student Council Moderator, left Hamilton Catholic to become chaplain of Saint Patrick's College, Asaba, Nigeria. The many duties of a high school teacher and moderator of the religious and social life of an insti- tution demand an individual with a strong constitution. The distant land to which a missionary travels with its new life and customs, demands an even stronger one. Therefore, in appreciation for his selfless efforts in our behalf, for the efficiency with which he executed the duties of his positions at Catholic High, and with great hope for his continued success, we dedicate the 1965 RAM to one who has led us by word and example, the former chaplain of Hamilton Catholic High School, Father Charles Bergedick, S.M. , You are all missionaries. --Fr. Chaminade LORD, make him an instrument of Thy peace; where there is hatred, let him sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. GRANT that he may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. --Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi W L U A D- r: P O P ADMINISTRATION ARCHBISHOP KARL J. Father Hof- fer has been a member of the Gen- eral Administration of the world- wide Society of Mary Marianists, and has been awarded many times for his services. As the Superior General, he visits Marianist schools in twenty-seven countries of Eu- rope, the Americas, Asia, and Africa. His visit to Hamilton was highlighted by speeches on the Marianist movement, an address given by Brother Neff, and a talk by Father Hoffer himself given to the entire student body. JUNIOR EVENTS Members of the cast of the junior play. Curtain-v call. FESTIVAL Brother Neff presenting the keys of the GTO to Ted Schuster. Hamilton Catholic's annual Spring Festival, from Occupational therapy. which a major portion of the school's finances is obtained, was declared a success this year. Although raffle ticket sales were lower than expected and the weather was undecided, the festival went on as plan- ned. The Pontiac GTO raffled off was won by Ted Schuster, a student at Catholic High. After the fes- tival, students were asked to help clean up, and many responded. They quickly got the school grounds back into shape, for they were anxious to get back to their studies. I don't want him to get away! SENIOR PROM Here are some unforgetable scenes from the Prom. It stands for many things, but for the students of Hamil- ton Catholic High School, it should stand for something more important-ean excellent Christian education. For over fifty years the Mariam'sts have taught at Catholic High. Next year, when the new high school is brought into operation, the Marianists are leaving Hamilton. However, they have a glorious record to be proud of here. Their quality education has left its mark, and they shall not be forgotten. The yearbook staff extends its sincere thank-you to the Society of Mary for this great service. Particular thanks is due to Brother Richard Robins, S.M., and the Photography Club for their co- operation and supply of fine pictures. Ronald Kell, Editor .--w- .u V-;. ' 45;!
