FOREWORD It is with fond memories and a genuine sense of loss that we leave Ham- burg High this year. We are leaving this world of studies and school friends and going into one of work and responsibilities. And as our high school days draw to a close we look to the past for guidance and strength and to the future with confidence and courage. For this reason, we, the class of 1953, have chosen a Pennsylvania Dutch theme for our yearbook. We are proud of our heritage and our ancestors who came across the treacherous seas to build a new life here in America. We feel that their courage and strength is a shining light to guide us in this chaotic world today. They overcame insurmountable obstacles to build the world we know. They were not afraid. And so from them we gain our confidence to continue as they began. To Mr. Alvin Kemp and Mr. Gilbert Snyder we are deeply indebted for the invaluable aid they so willingly gave us. We have tried to the best of our ability and resources with which to work, to make this 1953 Pinnacle one that can be remembered after the present day war-like world in which we live is again the peaceful world toward which the Pennsylvania Dutch are always striving.

D D I C A T 1 s qfx 0 N XVE, the class of W55, wish to dedicate our Pin- nacle to Miss Anna Balthaser who, through her untiring efforts, has made the Pin- nacle possible. For several years she has had the responsibility of seeing that the Pin- nacle is published, as well as taking care of many other activities of the Senior Class. So in sincere ap- preciation of what she has done, we wish to thank her for a very excellent job.
