M KATION Mrs. Patti Meeks nice, fun-loving, hard-work- ing, and dedicated are just a few words that describe Mrs. Patti Meeks. That is why this year's 1988 LION is dedicated to her. After graduating from Texar- kana High School and attend- ing Henderson State Universi- ty, Mrs. Patti Meeks began do- ing a little substitute teaching and later began teaching at Hamburg High. Mrs. Meeks has been teaching at Ham- burg High for 6 years now, and what an impact she has made in these few years. Mrs. Meeks has been one of the student council sponsors for 3 years now. Being one of the student council sponsors isn't as easy as it may seem, but Mrs. Meeks has dedicated a lot of time and effort working for the students and faculty of Ham- burg High School. Mrs. Meeks is a member of the First Methodist Church of Hamburg where she is an ac- tive member of the handbell choir. When she is not busy with her teaching duties and the student council, she en- joys spending time with her children. Mrs. Meeks has one girl, Sarah, and one boy, Rob- ert. She is the wife of Mr. Bill Meeks. She enjoys skiing, swimming, and doing needle work. 9 DEDICATION!

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so: For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow Die not, poor Death; not yet canst thou kill me. From Rest and Sleep, which but thy picture be. Much pleasure, then from thee much more must flow; And soonest our best men with thee do go- Rest of their bones and souls' delivery! Thou'rt slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men. And dost with posion, war, and sickness dwell; And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well And better then thy stroke. Why swell'st thou then? One short sleep past, we wake eternally. And Death shall be no more:
