Of rhe more pleosonr announcement was rhe opening of rhe new vocational complex. Mr. Franklin, Mrs Veazey, Mr. Lawrence, Mrs Horrod and Mrs Doggerr began rheir dosses in rhe new building in Seprember The classroom shifting caused a lor of confusion, and some will say rhar ir was fun watching those silly freshmen run- ning around rrying ro find rheir dosses. Closed campus. The rwo mosr unpopular words ar HHS. The administration and school board made a historical decision in August Hamburg High School has had an open campus policy throughout irs hisrory. Bur, rhe board vored ro dose rhe campus and change rhe policy. Needless ro soy, ir was disliked by rhe srudenrs, ond was a bir crowded, ar firsr. Four of rhe newly elected officers went to rhe Srare Srudenr Coundl Convenrion in Fayerreville. Those attend- ing were Stephen Bankston, Randy Grice, Jomie Bornerr, and Janer Blankenship. The officers and rwo sponsors arrended Srudenr Coun- dl Comp held or OBU in rhe summer. The officers amend- ing were Janer Blankenship, Jomie Bornerr, and Stephen Bonksron. Sponsors were Mrs. Meeks and Ms. Frazier. The coundl began rhe year by working for rhe teach- ers rhe week before school srorred. The coundl spon- sored many events during rhe school year. The team won the regional trial and pro- gressed to the store level. The ream consisted of Jim Rankin.
