Mr. Shelby Harrod came to Hamburg in 1955 as the senior high basketball coach and junior high football coach. Before coming to Hamburg he had served as basketball coach at Hermitage and Til- lar. In 1970. he became principal of the newly organized Hamburg Middle School. In addition to Mr. Harrod's duties as principal, he continues to serve as the head basketball coach for the senior high boys. Mr. Bobby Harper came to Hamburg in 1973 from Crossett, where he was the senior high boys' basketball coach. His qualifications include a B.S.E. from the University of Arkansas at Mon- ticelloand a M.S.E. from Arkansas State Univer- sity. Although Mr. Harper is involved in many activities, he finds time to work as a youth leader. This year he served as sponsor of the Hamburg Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In 1974, the Hamburg Board of Education faced many problems. But by working closely with the faculty and students, they were able to resolve these problems and continue their respon- sibilities. The school board has many duties in several different areas. Personnel, financial, and stu- dent-teacher relationships are just a few. The members of this board work very hard to keep the Hamburg School System run- ning smoothly. BOARD OF EDUCATION Members of the board are pictured left to right: Mr. Gordon Hennington, President; Mr. Robby Thompson; Mrs. Patti Hamil- ton; Mr. Willie B. Streeter. Secretary; and Mr. Jack Shell. 17

ADMINISTRATION SUPERINTENDENT S MESSAGE Dear Staff Members: You are to be commended for another fine yearbook. The Lion of ’75 reflects many memories which we will treasure for years to come. The spirit of togetherness which you exemplified in completing this publication in- spires me to place more confidence in you to leave this world a better place than you found it. We are saddened for the second year in a row by the loss of another one of our fine students. He will be remembered for what he added to our spirit of togetherness as well as for his other personal achievements. 1 will always cherish my past and future asso- ciations with you and other members of the stu- dent body. Your lives are near and dear to me and have added much purpose to my life. Sincerely, B. W. Allbritton, Jr. SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS Mr. B. W. Allbritton. Jr. PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE In our times just an education is not enough. There is much more to a successful life than getting an education and making money. On your journey toward maturity you must learn self-reliance and respect for yourself and others. You must learn what it means to “Pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.” You must learn to rely on a divine being when human resources are no longer sufficient. You must learn the suprem- acy of right over wrong and how to apply this in your relations with your fellow being. All these things and others are the reason we exist here at Hamburg High School. J. W. Hall HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL Mr. J. W. Hall
