DAILY CALENDAR September 6-School started. September 14-Cheerleader’s purple skirt material arrived. September 16-Nancy Pryor won the Miss Hamburg Contest--Sporty shaved. September 17-First football game--Star City defeated Lions, 20-6. September 20-John Howard found in the Girl’s Dressing Room. September 21-First Annual Staff Meeting (Oh, Brother!) September 23-Out of school for the fair parade. October 1-First football win of the season. Beat Strong 7-0. October 4-School Pictures made. October 7-Band went to State Fair. October 9-Miss Shush and Mr. Hush contest answered. October 22-Homecoming Football game-Beat White Hall 13-0. October 25-Senior Class Box Supper at Aliece’s. October 28-Halloween Carnival in the gym. October 29-Peggy Newsom became Peggy Holland. November 9-Seniors had food sale. November 25-Football thriller of the season, tied with Crossett 6-6. December 3-Football banquet at the Lion’s Den’’. December 21-Basketball girl’s had a bunking party at Miss Brown’s. December 22-Palmer and Bierbaum slept in English class-again! January 1 3- 14-Mid-term tests. January 22-Basketball girls lost first game to Desha Central. January 28-Betty Venters was married to Sammy Griffin. February 3-Junior Play. February 7-Seniors ordered invitations. February 9-Seniors ordered caps and gowns. February 14-Teen Age Party at new Rec. March 4-5-District Tournament. March 18-Senior Dramatic Play. May 6-Senior Play. May 12-Jr. and Senior Banquet. May 15-Baccalaureate. May 20-Commencement. 15

(This doesn’t stand for Whetstone, either.) Edward Howie—Selling lingerie, since Mr. Kitchens retired. Billy Bierbaum--Coaching the state champion football team in Plum Nelly (plum in the woods and nelly out of the world.) Norma Grace Bennett--Still playing post office. Bobby Jones--Causing “Jonesbellions in the government instead of old time “Rebellions. Nancye Blocker--An author now famous for her last novel, “Down Lacy Lane. Joe Sullivan--Editor-in-chief of the Sullivan eight page literature publishing company. Pauline Sullivan—Now is a happy Lochala girl. Joyce Denton--Plicking away happily in the sunny cotton fields of Thebes. Willie Claude Kelly--Holds the biggest position in HHS. He took Spives place. Doyle Giles--Owner and operator of a taxi stand named “Giles’ Miles. Bessie Bell Serrett--Most famous composer this side of May Branch, her latest com- position being “Concerto in C flat. Carolyn Blanks--A fan dancer in the Elite (still feuding, fussing, and fighting with her employer.) Ralph Carpenter—Owner of the Modernized Elite. David Sawyer--Playing cornet with Tommy Dorsey’s orchestra. Helen Carter--Just inherited the Carter Ink Company. Lois Sullivan—Holds the world’s fastest typing record (550 words a minute.) Joyce Wells—Winner of the Olympic Pole Vaulting contest, after taking 18 bottles of Hadacol. Betsy Burgess—A car hop for the New Pool Hall that has curb service. Albert Chapman—Has written a sequel to the song “Do you love me, Molly, Darling. Aliece Portis—Now has her Ph. D. degree from Vassar and her WIFE degree in “Carpentering. Sue Riley—Happily married to the POPE of the Catholic Church in Montrose. Katherine Hobbs—Has become renowned overnight (she proved that the 14 day Palmolive Play takes 15 days.) Johnnie Judkins—The Pin-up girl for the “Esquire magazine. James Mormon—Recovering from his three year illness caused by his drinking a bottle of embalming fluid (he thought it was 7-up.) Morgan Kelly, Jr.--The new pastor of the Promis Land Church. Joann Gulledge—She is bound for the Promise Land. E. B. Palmer—Owner and operator of a Florida nudist colony. Harrison Ralph—Owns a large corn field. (My! How corny!) Billy Lessor—Has taken Frankfurter’s place as Judge in the Supreme Court.
