Biological, chemical, and physical phenomena were explored ln this rapidly changing world we must continue to investigate life and matter around us. Those who select a science course such as Biological Science, biology, chem- istry, physics and microbiology have an excellent chance to probe and experiment. Our lab facilities enable us to use modern equipment such as microscopes and the Mettler Balance. All sciences except Biology ll and Chemistry ll have a minimum of one period of laboratory work a week. At this time, every individual is able to take the information he knows from reading and proceed to experi- ment with whatever knowledge he has gained. The teachers work along with the students, and thus, each learns from the other. The biology class took a field trip to Toronto and visited the new Ontario Science Center. This was an advantage for our students to continue their learning away from the classroom. Other field trips were conducted under our Science Department in order to keep the students inter- ested and the subject up-to-date. Science is one area of the high school program in which each student may discover some vocational interest. microbes? Math armed us to meet our everyday problems ln today's world of computers, lunar exploration, and advanced scientific research, mathematics is an increas- ingly important tool. Since the areas of application are constantly expanding, there is a need for a wide back- ground and knowledge of mathematics. The Mathematics Department in Hamburg has been providing for this demand by offering an excellent variety of courses. Students can work their ways from Elementary Algebra and Geometry, to the college-level courses of Analytical Geometry and the Calculus which is offered to ambitious students in the Advanced Placement program. Keeping pace with the advances in mathematics are the new ideas and methods being introduced. New types ot mathematical notation and a greater stress on number theory have been part of the curriculum.
