Standing: Mr. Osborne, Mr. Teague, Mr. Collins, Mr. Hafner, Mr. The Advanced Placement program, estab- lished for juniors and seniors to earn college credits at the end of two years, provides capable and ambitious students with a tre- mendous opportunity for accelerated study. All these courses, rather than using the traditional lecture method, provide the student with various materials from which he can form his own opinions. Class discussions help the student to understand the concepts he has learned and to evaluate his opinions. The students are given a comprehensive background and then the freedom to apply their knowledge to classroom work and every- day lite. The heartbeat of the past, present, and future. Mrs. Gilmour, Mrs. Morgan, Mr. Szarleta, Mr. Keller, Miss Cebula, Mr. Hilaire, Mr. Jones, Mr. Eggleston, Mr. Mirando, Mrs. Viehe. Biological, chemical, and physical phenomena were explored ln this rapidly changing world we must continue to investigate life and matter around us. Those who select a science course such as Biological Science, biology, chem- istry, physics and microbiology have an excellent chance to probe and experiment. Our lab facilities enable us to use modern equipment such as microscopes and the Mettler Balance. All sciences except Biology ll and Chemistry ll have a minimum of one period of laboratory work a week. At this time, every individual is able to take the information he knows from reading and proceed to experi- ment with whatever knowledge he has gained. All this apparatus for those little We are fortunate to have well-educated and interested teachers at Hamburg High School. The teachers work along with the students, and thus, each learns from the other. The biology class took a field trip to Toronto and visited the new Ontario Science Center. This was an advantage for our students to continue their learning away from the classroom. Other field trips were conducted under our Science Department in order to keep the students inter- ested and the subject up-to-date. Science is one area of the high school program in which each student may discover some vocational interest. microbes?
