FOREWORD After any game is over, the echoes of the cheers of the spectators and the enthusiasm of the parti- cipants linger on. Those ideals which have been set forth in the Olympic Games are serving as our goals, and that is why we choose it as our theme. Members of our class of '47 have played in an important game, for we have seen the beginning of war and the beginning of peace, and we have won the respect of others by striving to gain the knowledge which is necessary in order to make our world free from the wars which take many of our teammates from us. There is a game yet to be played in which we will meet opposition and disappointment, but eventually success. The goals for which we strive may be higher, and the competition more keen, but we will win over any obstacles which may arise for we have received the proper equipment from the people who have striven to give us a proper start-our teachers. A man who helps others and brings knowledge and happiness to them need not look tar for friends. Such a man is Lloyd Jayne. ln iust two years he has entered our hearts with the keys of charm, personality, wit and intellect. On the athletic field, in his chemis- try and physics laboratory and at the keyboard of a piano he was always a gentle- man, a scholar and a fine friend. lt is with great pleasure that the Class of '47 dedi- cates the Echoes of '47 to such a gracious man. 4
