Thirty 'T' 'Yi ir The Boys Write Home On the evening of January 27 when the graduates of January, 1944, re- ceive their diplomas, some of the members of the class will not be with us. We are sorry-and yet we are proud! Our boys are off to war. Army, Navy, Marines, Merchant Marine-all these uniforms would be evident in the class procession if by some miracle the boys could return to St. Louis for the graduating exercises. While these classmates haven't been in school during the past few months, we have been exchanging letters and have enjoyed hearing about their activities and telling them about our affairs. GEORGE W1LL1s George was one of the first boys to leave. He is in the map and instru- ment section at Camp Gruber. He says that there is a lot of figuring to do, but it is easy after you know how. He writes: This army is really nice. The other day I was walking down the street and didn't salute a captain. He stopped me and said, Didn't you notice me uniform? I said, That's nothing, look at mine. Remember when Eddie and I used to go wolfing through the halls up at Hadley? Them were really the days. You don't miss them till they are gone.
