Plagued by sickness rhroughour rhe year, rhe reams managed ro hang on ro winning records, C10-o, Varsiry and 7-5, FXS? The Varsiry's mosr memorable momenr was againsr Poly, in which Gunn, led by senior caprain Lenn Rosenberg and junior Joe Murad, bear Poly for rhe firsr rime in four years. Alrhough rhe FXS ream was very inexperienced, Coach Sroll expects ro have furure Vorsiry srandours in players such as sophomore Doug Lirrle and freshmen Chris Laliberre and Joey Taylor. Because of rhe differenr slsill levels opparenr on borh reams, Sroll is opromisric abour rhe success of furure Gunn warer polo programs. The girls served, hir, bloclsed, and spil-:ed fheir way ro second place behind Las Alras in rhe S.C.V.A.L. Gunn mef wirh Los Alras again in the semi-finals of rhe Norrhern California comperirion, Those four games were fhe highlighr of rhe season and alrhough rhe Tirans lasr, C5-15, 15-11, 8515, 18455 coach Draper srares, We had a very very good season and have gone furfher rhan I ex' pecredf' He credirs the ream success in parr ro fhe leadership of caprain Liz Perers and Virginia Thompson and oursronding play by Joanne Nielson, Carrie Nivlson, and Alison Vicl-xland.
