Coach Peters felt that there were a few players that should be mentioned. He said, Andy and Kelly Coon are two of the finest players ever to wear a Gunn uniform. Their records speak for themselves. Scot Belli and Scott Bunnell were two of the finest tackles in the league. Troy Warren delivered the hardest hit against Poly and Manny Freitos was the major participant in the most spectacular play at Gunn HS, against Milpitas. Justin Befu was our most consistant back and other seniors who played a major role in helping Gunn, turn the corner included John Bur- dick, Gabe Baddavero, Bob Kull, Terry Fuji' toni, Dan Fomilant, Nick Angelhoff, John Har' dy, Dane Stark, and John Pseimersj' The team this year is said to be more of a we team rather than a me team. The team members said, 'Practices were much more brutal this year, The players began their practice season much earlier this year and worked very hard to produce the best team possible. The most difficult game was our 14-13 loss to Milpitas which knocked us out of the playoff picture. The most difficult game to prepare for was Poly, because there is no underdog in a GunnAPaly contest. It was also our most satisfying victory. The loss to Los Altos was the biggest blow to our ego, and the win Cour first league win? over Santa Clara wrote the first chapter in the new Gunn football image, The homecoming game against Milpitas didn't follow the script the team had written for the outcome of the game, but all the actors played their parts admirably. Coach Peters said, lt was the first time during my career at Gunn High School that I felt the game presentation was complete - comf plete from spirit to the marching band and the attendance of our supporters. He ends by saying, l'lt was fun. Let's do it again! A couple of players, John Hardy and Scott Belli, said, We actually looked forward to going to practice. The members of the team also stated that the coaches this year were really helpful and wanted a winning season. The team worked as a whole this year and produced a team that won games. r l l l i l l

F rosh-Soph Football The Frosh-Soph football ream started a new tradition at Gunn High School this year. They had a winning season. The ream is ranked third in the league. They had a chance at first place but lost their games to Paly and Santa Clara. The games were close, but our Frosh-Soph team gave it their all. The team this year has two new coaches, Norm Air- oldi, and Chevy Eusebio. The ream memf bers felt that the coaches pushed them hard and that it was all worth it. The encourage- ment from the students and faculty was much appreciated by the team. The team began their practices early this year and were prepared for a hard working season. The teams winning season is partly credited ro the coaches a few of the team members said. The team worked as a whole this year and had a lot of team spirit among them- selves.
