tiations are currently underway and it look promising. The story is about a man and his wife reversing roles with each other so that the husband stays at home, watches the children, and does the housework and the wife goes out and earns the wages. Coach Peters derived this idea from the exact situa- tion he and his wife underwent this past summer. The result, in his own words, was, I failed, miserablyf, This came as a shock to someone who had almost always succeeded in anything he set out to do. Coach Peters has been the Goodwill Ambassador to Pakistan for the Rotery Club. He was voted Man of the Year by the Jay- cee's, Outstanding Secondary Teach- er in the U.S., top rifle in a batallion in the Marines, and was the Junior Col- lege All American! He is also a concert pianist! That's outstanding, Coach Pe- ters!! Coach Adcock is Gunns' Girls' Varsity Basketball and Varsity and J.V. Bad- mitton coach. When asked about her most embarrassing moment, she re- plied, l'm so perfect, I don't have any embarrassing moments. However, we discovered a story that might have caused a little embarrassment for her. One evening all the coaches were hav- ing dinner at a Chinese restaurant. During the meal, Ms. Rotty la former Gunn coach! asked for somebody to pass her a certain dish. Well, Coach Adcock spun the lazy-Susan around, but Coach Poff put her finger on it and made it stop at a dish for somebody else. The sudden stop made all the dishes go flying onto Ms. Rottys' lap! It is said that Coach Adcock turned bright red and you don't see that very 'i often! Although Coach Adcock hasn't had much luck with lazy-Susans, she has some extremely fine achievements in sports. ln college, she received the Outstanding Scholar and Athlete Award. Later, she went on to be ranked No. 1 in the over 30's division in tennis by the U.S.T.A. and No. 11 in the open division! The Northern Cali- fornia Tennis Association voted her most improved player of the year in 1981! She also played professional basketball!! Very impressive, Coach Adcock! There are still some coaches that havenft been mentioned, yet, so we'd like to recognize Coach Bow for his outstanding job in FroshfSoph Foot- ball and Boys' Varsity and J .V. Tennis, Coach Daner for Cross Country and Track and Field, Coach Sperry for FroshfSoph Football, Coach McCrary for Waterpolo, Coach Nieves and Coach Jensen for Varsity and J.V. Volleyball, Coach Cooper for Boys' Varsity Soccer, and Coach Gold for Girls' Varsity Soccer. A D WERE ALWAYS AFRAID TO ASK!!!

V. A WHAT YOU NEVER K EW ABOUT COACHES ll!!! You may think you know Gunns' coaches, but how well do you really know them? They may seem like mild- mannered, ordinary coaches to the in- experienced eye, but many of them have quite a history of accomplish- ments, embarrassing moments, and in- teresting facts about them that you probably never imagined! For example, did you know that Coach Poff, at one time, competed as a 'Horned Toad? No, she was not always Gunns' Girls' Tennis and J.V. Basketball coach! She attended Coa- linga High School and they're mascot was, oddly enough, the Horned Toad. Her most embarrassing moment was when she went down to southern Cali- fornia to be a bridesmaid. When she arrived, she realized she had forgotten her shoes, and she couldn't go back to the bay area for them, so she went shopping, but she couldn't find a pair that fit her. She then decided that she'd go to the wedding barefoot . . and she did!! She was even in a short dress! However, she claims that no- body noticed because l was so tall anyway! Many of you know Coach Harris as the person who coaches our Varsity Bas- ketball and FroshfSoph Baseball teams. But did you know he almost went down with the ship fso to speak! in the middle of lake Don Pedro? In the summer of '81, he took his 18 foot motorboat out into the middle of the lake and when he looked behind him, the back of his boat was submerged in water. fHe forgot to put the plug in the hole of his boat!! thinking quickly, he put the boat in full gear and sped around the lake until all the water had been pressured out! Smart thinking, Coach Harris! By the way, he's also quite an accomplished waterskier. Did you know that 2 of our coaches may have been unintentional rivals when they were younger? Coach Truesdell fthe Varsity Football and Varsity Softball coach! played football for U.C.L.A. when he was in college and Coach Doster fthe Varsity Foot- ball and J.V, Softball coach! played for Stanford. Coach Little, the Girls' J.V. Soccer and Swimming coach, has quite a long history of embarrassing moments, but the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to her was in high school. She was on the swim team and during a meet, just after she had finished her laps, she got out of the pool and no- ticed that the top part of her suit had slipped down to her waist! Poor Coach Little! Her face turned almost as red as her hair! Although she had some awkward moments in her life, she also had some exciting ones. She was a member of the representative U.S. Hockey Team for California which played in an international tournament in Canada!!!!l Speaking of hockey, Coach Finnigan fthe Girls Diving and Gymnastics coach! was on the U.S. Olympic Hock- ey Team!!! Steinbeck? Salinger? No, itls Coach Peters and he's written a book called Wait 'Til Your Mother Gets Home! Coach Peters is Gunns' Varsity Foot- ball and Track coach. We're all ex- cited about his new book for many reasons. Mainly because they're think- ing of making it into a movie for televi- sion and quite possibly a series. Nego-
