Row 2: Mark Hillier, Eric MacMurray, John Haskin, Lene Rosenberg, Robert Dickens Over the past few years the Gunn FroshfSoph water polo program has improving yearly and this year was no exception. This team was defeated only twice in league play, and won the rest, even though they were handed four freebies, as two schools fielded no FroshfSoph teams. Sophs Robert Dickens, Robert Silverberg, Eric Mac Murray, and Mark Hillier were the standouts. 4ss

Injuries, inexperience, internal attitude prob- lems and adjusting to a new coaching system. These are just a few of the difficulties the 81-82 Gunn Varsity Basketball team encountered in their quest for a third S.C.V.A.L. title. Despite a dismal 2-8 pre-season record, the Titans were extremely competitive in S.C.V.A.L. play. First year coach Don Franco Harris started his Gunn career with a team of considerably less talent that Gunn has had in the last several years. Led by seniors Rob Peterson and Brian DiBiaso and star juniors Griffin Muff Bonini and Derek Leith, a short team, the tallest being 6' 3 M center Colin Bonini, the Titans efforts to overcome these and other difficulties was praiseworthy. The temporary loss of Muff and Derek, due to injury, and the seasonal loss of Brian Bridges forced Coach Harris to juggle his players in a brilliant maneuver of using available talent. With the heart of the team returning for next year, the outlook is bright for another C.C.S. contender in the coming year,

Erland Patterson, Matt Richey, Scott Sucher. The FroshfSoph Titans won the SCVAI. league championship for the third time in the last four seasons and continued to dominate the All-league team with seven players gaining recognition. Their record was 12 wins, 1 loss, and 8 ties. Aside from the frustration of those ties they played very well. Standouts were league M.V.P. Steve Banks at forward, forwards Shawn Owen and Chris Dolph, midfielders Manny Freitas and Ken Taylor, and Defenders Scott Sucher, Matt Richey, and Erland Patterson. Another dynamite season for the mini-Titans!!
