BUSINESS
The Business Department, comprised of eight teachers and one
teacher assistant, serves both academic and vocational students.
Marketing, Business Ownership and Marketing, Law, and Accelerated
Accounting are extremely popular. With increased need for keyboar-
ding skills and computer use, Keyboarding is opted by many students.
XVord Processing provides a number of students with personal-use
skills lterm paper preparation, club correspondence, etc.J, as well as
employment skills.
The Department has been responsive to community needs and has
been ahead of the Regents Action Plan recommendations and man-
dates. Few courses will need to change little more than the name. One
major change occurred 1 Speedwriting has replaced Gregg Shor-
thand Qdemand for which has declinedh and is available to students
wishing note taking andfor employment skills. Business Dynamics is
becoming Introduction to Occupations, required of all Occupational
Education students and offered as an elective to others. Business
Analysis! Business Computer Applications will be a required course of
students opting for the five-unit sequence in Business Education.
Students, of course, are encouraged to "learn and earn" through Work
Experience.
Office Procedures continues to be THE course for budding
secretaries or administrative assistants, providing Open House in May
each year to enable the community to find out about Business Pro-
grams offered. There are no surprises in Business Education --- we
mean Business!
