i A few more huts here and there but still it is the odds and ends of june seventeenth nineteen seventy one: One enveloping many; Many enveloping one.......Helter-skelter rummagings of lost love affairs and........“are you happy are you sad can you tell me pain you've had”.......Smoke-filled boxes with doors you can hear down at the other end of the math wing. How crucial were those must-involvements. (But do not over-extend yourself!) Groveton Action to Stop Pollution floated into the halls along with Susan B. Anthony: Mrs. Torrice. Cheerleaders were carrying on with friday morning incredulous spiritings while Kimball Jonas fought for his peace and quiet. Do we smoke? Or do we ramble on over health and wealth and S.P.T.A. meetings with 14 WHAT WERE THE CHANGES THERE . . .HERE? parents. Do we smoke? In the boxes with doors you can hear down at the other end of the math wing; 70 percent, so where is the box marked Smoking Lounge? Seven-Forty was the boundary line for parking at random, Or was it eight-thirty. Or was it the football field! February eleventh nineteen seventy two brought the layout staff to a raging head against the copy staff What is a tiger-ama anyway?!? Free School tore through the school with some cry of liberalization...“and don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you got till it's gone . . . Free School. No Free School! The Keyettes failed in their effort to bring a Planned Parenthood assembly to Groveton. And friday is a monday, Saturday is a Sunday is a Sunday night is School! Summertree and A Night of One Acts sang through in the fall (hey tie dye man, woodstock . . .!) and there were those vogues and popular photographies to sell, along with “The Goldrush. Did Groveton ever win a football game Did Groveton ever lose a basketball game! The regionals again and again. (Victory over T.C. and defeat again by West Springfield.) So did we have a queen or did we have a queen?! The Elective Programs invaded the Social Studies Department along with the English Department, and the art program turned into an incredibly new area. While the Keyettes held a pancake breakfast, some student from Herndon was stepping up to the school board for the first time. Mini Courses came into being and gave us a new variety of courses. Three days in late winter granted us The Sun; so how many people came to your English class???..... 8

I light to watch the halls of a building take color. There are bits of blues and reds and striking oranges in my path. A scream, a chant, a whisper of awakenings through cheesecloth. I light to touch the ribbons of the chalk walls here; geometric corridors would be better without some pale pink. Its a long time to hang from a swinging door and eat peanut butter bars at lunch; but watching the halls take color is a little glow. Everyday is bound by hard cover whispers, labels upon labels pressed onto the side of this book in silver. I light, though, to glance through it's print—what is it—Arabic? Hebrew? Chinese? I suppose it is some language we built up out of a school song someone fiddled with once upon a time, when we were all in love with Elvis. I light to hear our language draping it's way through the class. Some are demure; some are clutching at any given word or glance; some push to show they are real. I light to see. We are all real here. Real in our unrealness; real in our uniqueness; real in our oneness—or is it two-thousandness? Whether we drop hints of uncouth gestures to passers-by, I light to hear their questioning tones. For we are silky sounds amidst rough and rigid squawks; we are two-thousand-oneness amidst small scatters of untied ends. to
