GQCZ O CZQQS Four years ago Grover Cleveland High School opened its doors to a new group of Freshmen. Many of us, right from the start, couldnlt get out of being tagged Hfreshiefl Those first few days we had to be on our guard, for the upper termers were in the business of giving out elevator passes. Not knowing that the only elevator in the school was for the help of Grover Cleveland, we all fell for it. The upper termers played many other tricks on us, but by thumbing through our handbooks we knew better. Once we knew our way around, we began to get interested in our school. We joined the C. O. and bought the Cleveland Herald. Many of us joined clubs and school teams. By doing this, we really got into that school spirit. VVC also upheld most of the C. O. affairs, such as the barn dances and the amateur contests. Soon our first term in high school ended. After our summer vacation, we began our last half year as freslnncn. This was an important term for all of us. It was at this time that the City of New York faced a serious crisis, the water shortage. We, the students of Crover Cleveland, did our best to help save water. In all our classes, no matter what subject, we were taught rules on how water should be saved each day. September through january, and our Freshman year came to an end. To this day, many of us can remember the good times we had in the Hrst year of our high school career. VVe then started our Sophomore Year and were proud to carry one less book. liven though we were ahead of the entering freshmen, we already looked down at the new group of bewildered scholars. Cur grade adviser sent for us one by one and scheduled our programs for the remainder of our four years in the school. The grade adviser's purpose was to prepare us for whatever Held we were interested in. The Senior Class of january 1953 would now like to thank our adviser for the successful job accomplished. In the fall term of our Sophomore year, tension got hold on most of us, for our Regents examinations drew near. As the date of the Regents exams carrie nearer and nearer, we couldn't stand the torture any longer. Finally they were over, and looking back on them we can see that they weren't so bad. Z0
