I’KINCIPAL A. P. Koutli is Senior High’s ethoient administrator. GHS progress is sure: Mr. Routh has acumen, MRS. COLTKANP . Mr. Kouth ' s versatile secretary, here helps Mr. Routh place the day ' s mail in teachers ' l)()xes -— only one of a myriad of tasks in her day. This sprawling giant of a school demands an administration diplomatic and alert, an organiza¬ tion flexible enough to accommodate frequent emergencies as well as a steady succession of routine problems, and imaginative planning far ahead of the needs. For Senior High ' s enrollment continued to overtax facilities and available per¬ sonnel. Innovations like accelerated classes, a musical composer-in-residence, and a language- laboratory must be fitted into the school’s pro¬ gram and made truly functional. It takes the very best in management.

Completely indispensible in helping Mr. Routh keep this massive school running smoothly were two people: Mr. Glenn, assistant principal, with his steady smile and his always-right answer to experience, good help the need at hand, and Miss Wood, dean of stu¬ dents, with her poised and gracious approach to every emergency and duty of the clinic and at¬ tendance center. The over-eighty teachers at Senior High not only worked closely with these two important people in many ways, but found time to be tire¬ less advisers and ardent supporters of all school activities. They went on long trips to Nassau as chaperones; they played basketball and acted as cheerleaders with a girl’s club. Above all they worked at being successful classroom teachers. IK. K. L.
