River fState B Champicnsj, Menno tNo. 6 on the AP Pollj, Platte CNo. 3 on the AP Pollb , Fairfax Q19 on P0ll.l To wind up a fairly successful season, the underdog Gorillas went into District 28 play and took out the highly favored Fairfax Broncs 56 to 51. Then went on to take the championship with a win over Bone- steel 57 to 40. This enabled them to enter the Regional Tournament. The Gorillas entered the Region 7 contest with their spirits high. In Ben Kolbe and rest of teammates start a fast break. 38 Co-captains Jack McCol1am and Bob Kirwan the first thrilling game, Gregory beat Centerville 54 to 45. Menno bowled over Platte's smooth running club, which then would leave the Region 7 champions to be between Gregory and Menno. In a hard fought contest, the Menno Wolves overpowered the Gorillas for the Championship. One of the highlights in the Gorilla season was the winning of the first place trophy in the Lake Andes New Years Tournament.

They wound up the season with a 13-11 won-lost record. They also had 7 'seniors on the first ten, which will, of course, probably be somewhat of a problem for next year. The Gorillas started out the season by playing Colome and they came out on top 73 to 45. The next game was with Murdo CThe No. 1 rated team in the stateh. Gregory this time came out on the short end 57-61. This is just about the way the games worked out for the Gorillas all season, first winning one or two and then losing one or two. They have played some of the top teams in the state, for instance, Murdo, White
