This year M metom. 'mesmnmsdo mnetmng, an more things happen during the senior year than in any other. This class provides the leadership and a source of admiration for the whole school. This last year is a time for looking back on wonderful happenings and for looking forward to greater things. The seniors have attended their last Christmas assembly and baccalaureate, were honored at the senior prom, and finally the grad- uation ceremonies are soon to be a thing of the past. Everything has been done to make the sen- iors worthy of Greenwood's diploma. If these seniors take with them the same spirit which they possessed during their stay here, they will be putting their best foot forward. And so, the seniors will soon be leaving, but the mark they leave carved on the Greenwood Tree is deep and everlasting. No sooner are the jun- iors juniors than they are awakened to the fact that an impressive number of tasks are waiting to be done by them. First there are the pop stands at all the home football, and basketball games. Then comes the problem of choosing class rings. As winter begins to turn to spring, the juniors must begin to plan for the All-School Partygand last but by no means least, the Junior- Senior Prom. Somehow everything always works out beauti- fully. At the end of this busy year, with the Prom as the perfect climax, the juniors pass on through the golden portal into that wonderful realm of their senior year. You wouldn't have to tell a sophomore what that means. Sell- ing ads is part of the traditional sophomore project of preparing and selling programs for Greenwood's Annual Blue and Gold Basketball Tournament. Although this project is the high- light of the year to the sophomores, the tenth year at Greenwood offers much more. The sopho- more finds new opportunities in athletics and new enjoyment in outside activities. Because he has more freedom of choice in his subjects, he finds new interest in his schoolwork as well. That is a subject for extended debate. But unquestionably a freshman receives advantages of both junior and sen- ior high school. The boys may pick up the challenge offered by the opportunity to try out for varsity athletics. The girls may seek their fame in the Drum Corps. For the first time in their scholastic lives, freshmen get a choice of subjects. It's a big step in accepting the responsibility of running their own lives. These happy-go-lucky freshmen are still part of the carefree group of the junior high school. Nevertheless they're getting a taste of life in the top three grades.
