TENNIS Coach Dattola will lead the complete last year's net team against its foes for the 1950 season. The return of all these regulars promises a good season with more thrilling tennis than ever played before. With the Coming of Spring, the racquet boys on our squad will be driving that ball back and forth across the nets. They will be joined by many enthusiasts who will encourage them on to success. Row l, left to right: V. Fiorito, D. Hem- mingway, R. Abbott. Row 2: C. Cross, J. McGrath, E. Fox, D. Giansello, H. Finn. BASKETBALL The success of this year's basketball squad cannot be seen in the lifeless figures of the score book, for our team has done a valiant job reaching above its tower- ing opponents. Fighting against overpowering height in almost every instance, the boys, spirited by Captain V. Fiorito, have done themselves credit on all counts. The school turned out in force to pack the gym at all home games, and cheer Giansello on to break the individual scoring record previously held by Worthy Patterson. The spirit and sportsmanship exhibited by the team have impressed the courtmen of other schools to the extent of overbalancing the importance of score.

TR With the return of spring Coach Cliff Gustafson will be seen dividing his time and efforts between the runners and field men as they prime for the many dual and championship meets that lie ahead. Because our year book goes to press before the Conn. State Relays and the Rye Invitation and State championship meets, it is impossible to give results although we can make predictions as has been done in previous years This year Coach Gustafson will depend largely upon Ray Chickanis, his record breaking senior in the dis- tances, followed by Eddy Fox, Bill Griffin, George Brotherton and jim McGrath. The sprints with Bill Cody and Whitey O'Brien as the nucleus and Larry Wah, Bryce Brown, Cullen, Serna, and Phil Decker to brighten the picture, the outlook appears promising. A 24 K The field events will feature such stalwarts as Fred Marr in the lavelin Chuck Kidner and Bill Griffin leading the high jumpers and Bob Mead along with Ed Kristoff topping the pole vaulters Bill Cody and Cliff Cross will try for top honors in the broad jump while leading the shot putters will be Harold Bauten and Doug Salter The discus will be action packed in a contest between Doug Salter and lanky Fred Marr Although our track team has compiled an enviable record in previous years it cannot coast along on its laurels. Championship teams are produced as a result of hard and tedious hours on the field and considering the host of eager aspirants on this years team we should have nothing short of a better than average season.
