W, 1943 Unaware that we were to witness such cataclysmic events as the invasion of Poland, the fall of France, the battle of Britain, the attack on Russia, and Pearl Harbor, the freshman class of January, 1939 entered the hallowed halls of Greenwich High School much as did the countless classes preceding it-bewildered, noisy, egotistical. The sharp corners were soon rounded off, however, as we ventured into the hitherto unknown realm of extra-curricular activities. During our first year the ranks of those in the music departments were swelled by Alexander Bogdanchik and George Whelan, who gave freely of their talents to the band and the orchestra as well as to the Boys' Glee Club. Victory Huley, one of the most talented violinists ever to pass through the portals of our Alma Mater, was destined to attain the honored position of concert-master of the orchestra in his sophomore year. Robert O'Brien ably served both the band and Boys' Glee Club, and Alma , 74 ,, .1F'..t 1 X. 2' , MAUDE WAGNER Vice-President ville under the able direction of dauntless Dot Doyle. Although it is impossible to enumerate the many without whose help it would have been impossible to stage the production, Bernard Cuperman, Gertrude Hall, Bill Woodruff, and Jerome Wanko deserve special mention. In addition to the customary affairs and duties confronting every senior class, we were concerned principally with activities related to the war. Some of our members, wishing to give their all to the inevitable accomplishment of victory, entered the ranks ot our armed forces. Alex Bogdanchik,,Alex Gerasimuk, George Hyland, Victor Huley, Roman Kosinsky, Robert Kunz, Edward McNamara, Joseph McTeigue, Kenneth Meredith, James Murphy, 1 itil? RICHARD CONLIN Treasurer Robert O'Brien, Joseph Romeo and Mario Stroili are members of this group, and others are on call or plan to join immediately after graduation. The rest of us, not in a position to contribute so fully, are doing our part on the home front as active members of the Victory Corps, an organization formed during this year for the purpose of consolidating many of the activities relating to the war effort, and introducing many new ones. And so amid this aggressive spirit of war and its sacrifices, we leave, confident of the dawning of' victory and peace for the hosts of freedom, who may once again enjoy the advantages of which our present educational system is a major part.
