tribute to the 52 American hostages On November 4 1979, fif- ty-two American citizens were taken captive by a mili- tant Iranian Government and held for 444 days. Their ordeal ended on Jan. 20, 1981, with their homecoming over- shadowing even President Reagan's inaguration. Yellow ribbons and American flags were raised all over the Unit- ed States in tribute to those brave Americans. Greenway Demons joined in tribute to those Americans as well as the 8 military men who lost their lives in an unsuccessful rescue attempt that occured in the early month's of the crisis.
