A FAREWELL TO MR. ALLINDER. After many years in the Greenville Public School system, A. F. Allinder is leaving us this year. He will be missed. Mr. Allinder came to Greenville in 1929, the same year that he graduated from Hillsdale College. He served in a teaching and coaching capacity for six years. In 1935, Mr. Allinder became Greenville High School principal. He left that post in 1948 to become Superintendent of Schools, the position he has held until his departure from the school system in Julv of this year. Besides his degree from Hillsdale, Mr. Allinder was a University of Michigan graduate in school administration. Mr. Allinder and his wife, Emily, have three grown children: William, Jay, and Bonnie. The school system has grown in leaps and bounds under Superintendent Allinder. School enrollment has increased, and under the leadership of Mr. Allinder, the dream of a new high school was realized in the fall of 1961. On behalf of all the students in the Greenville Public School system in the past 36 years, may we, the 1966 Hi-Life staff, express our appreciation for a job extremely well done. 6

■ - A proud wrestling coach displays a trophy won by the Jackets in a 1966 quadrangular. Mr. Mathews married his wife, Roberta, in 1958. They now have three children: Lori Anne, Charles, and Arnold. The athletic teams coached by Mr. Mathews have had excellent records. In 1964, the G. H. S. baseball team won the conference crown. The wrestling teams have had admirable records. In 1966, the Jackets placed third in the conference meet, fifth in the regionals, and one boy was runner-tip in the state, as two other wrestlers have been before him. I here are few people who earn the respect that Mr. Mathews is shown by those he coaches and instructs. One can easily see the gleam of admiration in a boy’s eye when he speaks of Coach”. In addition to his regular duties, Mr. Mathews has been instrumental in bringing many a student back from a wayward path through his fine counseling and understand ing. And so, Coach,” may we take this opportunity to say Thanks” on behalf of the innumerable people who hold you in such high esteem. First baseman Mathews showed fine form while playing for the M.S.U. Spartans. 5

. AND A WELCOME TO MR. GLENDENING Our new Superintendent of Schools is Mr. Burl A. Glendening, who comes to us from Brandon School District at Ortonville, where he was superintendent, also. A native of Pittsford, Mr. Glendening received his B.A. at Albion College, and his M.A. from the University of Michigan. He is continuing his studies through Michigan State University. Mr. Glendening has taught math, science, social studies, driver education, and physical education in junior and senior high schools. Mr. Glendening and his wife, Barbara, have four children: Bruce 14, Brent 11, Bryan 9, and Beth Ann 7. Superintendent Glendening enjoys hunting, fishing, and golfing, as well as home improvement projects. The Glendening family takes pleasure in camping, as well. Mr. Glendening is wished the best of luck in his new position.
