cAtlm in ii tra tion Superintendent A. F. Allinder To the Seniors: Each year thousands of young people are graduated at high schools throughout our land. Young people just like you, Class of '54. There has been, believe it or not, a great investment in all of you in terms of parental time, love, interest, discipline, and general care . . . as well as money. You have an obligation to make this investment pay dividends to your parents and to your nation by becoming good citizens. No one owes you anything . . . you owe them. Have you the courage and strength to fulfill your obligation? My best best wishes for success go with you. A. F. Allinder To the Seniors: Someone asked this important question not long ago: What characteristics, competencies and traits should a high school senior have attained by the time he walks across the stage to receive his diploma? The answer to this question has been written about, talked about, and discussed from every angle, so much so that I shall not try to give the answer here. Each senior will be able to determine for himself, in time, whether we of Greenville High School have played a part in bringing out those traits which society believes good. When we consider the worth of every individual, the contribution he can make to the life of a community, we realize that our best efforts are necessary in fulfilling this obligation. Howard B. She has served on the School Board, and as our most sought-after speaker. We dedicate our Hi-Life as a momento for all the help she has given us and all the hard work she has done. three
