Vxforcls cannot express the appreciation of tile staff for her guidance and iieip. it was through iter untiring efforts, though never neglecting fuer many other cluties, that this inooie has been macie possiinie. Her twelve years as yearbook adviser have not lessened iier enthusiasm for each new years work. Careful planning for eaciz page, painstaizing prepara- tion of each init of copy and each picture, seeing that every ad was in, supervising the Business staff in making enougii money to pay for the bool?--all these things-long hours of overtime, including mucii night work-have been just a few of ,ter practices during the last twelve years. Because you cieserve it, we the GRADLV,ASTE staff of 1953-dedicate this book to you-Miss Kayser. The Cadets with their I7 wins and 5 tosses have given everyone a confident feeling that good haslcethall can he expected in the tuture. included in the Cadets losses ol this year were two one-point defeats, one by Roxana, 54-53, the other hy lxiadison, 51-50. Had these two games gone the other way, as they easily could have, the Cadets would have totalled I9 victories, a liigure which registers well in anyhodyis hooli. ixtuch credit tor this excellent record must he given to Coach lxlccarthy. He produced a win- ning team even though he was forced to use his center. Alvin Vvilderman, sparingly. so that Alvin might he fresh as possihle when he was called upon to play center post tor the Varsity. To single out one or two players and give them credit tor the excellent recorct, would he ilnpossihle. Certainly. though, the winning col- umn would not he so long it it werenit tor the continual driving and constant defensive hustling ol sophomore Louie Loman. Nor could the Cadets have done without the rehounding ot Tom pint:- stalit and his ahility to matte his leit-hand shot as he hrolce from the corner into the tieyhole and consistently scored. Beside Alvin, there was another outstanding rehounder, Boll Brown. a lireshman, who. although only 58 , could rehound with hoys who exceeded him in height as much as six inches. His jump shot was a certainty and he was one ol' the Cadets' top scorers lor the season. Ron Johnson was the other memher ol' the starting live. Call Ronny a lloor man, a spartx plug, or what you may, he was the one player who held the team together and could he depended upon to play good halt every night he played. Ronny was small, an excellent hall handler, and a good shot from anywhere on the lloor. Kent lxierry was called upon often and could talce over the joh ol liorward or guard as the need arose. Kents scoring ahitily seemed to come in spurts and on his good nights he could he greatly instrumental in the Cadets. ottensive attacli.
