Class History Starting their high school career ofF with a bang, the Class elected in 1958 as their Freshman officers Alan Horton, president, Mimi Wells, vice-president, Kathy Bush, treasurer, and Adrienne Moskovey, secretary. This team was given the monumental job of starting from scratch to build up the class treasury for that far-off trip to Washington and all those other expenses of the Senior year. The class-sponsored dance was well received, and other fund-raising efforts gave the infant treasury its first important additions. The Sophomore year saw A1 Horton and Adrienne returned as president and secretary, respectively, with new recruits to the upper echelon in the persons of Fred Axclson as vice-president and Mella Lakowitz as treasurer. The big Christmas Dance received the class’s undivided attention in the first half-year. The great social and finan- cial success of this enterprise was a much-welcomed reward for a great deal of work. A spring dance, a cake sale and a car wash (some pictures of which are on page 24) closed the year. Our Junior year brought us face to face with our financial problems and like all Junior classes we were worried. As officers the class elected Dave Ott president, and Wendy Bie treasurer, with Fred and Adrienne being rc-clcctcd to their respective posts. In desperation efforts to boost the class treasury, we embarked on a money-making campaign which saw the class hold two car washes and a cake sale and also saw an intensive dues drive by Wendy which brought ducs-owcd down from over $150 to less than $30. The last half of the year was a time of great activity as the class received their rings (standardized for the first time in the history of the school) and prepared for the Prom. “Soiree a Paris,” as this final effort of the year was called, brought a burst of feverish activity from the class and demanded everyone’s help, but we were all pleased to find the Prom the success that it was. Then, Seniors at last! Our officers were Dave Ott as president, Fred Axelson as vice-president, Lee Ellen Fox (who had succeeded Wendy when the latter moved away in February of the Junior year) as treasurer, and Adrienne Moskovey as secretary. This final year at G.H.S. opened with the tremendous two-week magazine campaign that brought in over $1,600 profit to the class. Elated by this success and seeing our fortunes rising, we went on to give our thespian effort of the year (see pages 12 and 13) which was financially a resounding triumph. Then came the advertising and Booster cam- paigns for the yearbook. Under Adrienne Moskovcy’s very capable direction, these campaigns a great achieve- ment. Before we could catch a breath, the spring vaca- tion had arrived and we were off to Washington on that long-awaited trip. And then came June and Com- mencement. As we looked back with nostalgia at all that these four years meant, and looked forward with hope and anticipation, some of us stopped for a moment to search out the value of it all, and we came to the conclusion that perhaps our years at G.H.S. were more than mere activities, more even than studies and learning (though that was important to many of us) : the years were, in fact, for good or ill, a chapter of our lives. We would remember it; it would be indissolubly imprinted on our minds; it would become a part of us even as we wrote to it FINIS. CLASS OFFICERS: Adrienne Moskovey, Lee Ellen Fox, Fred Axelson, and Dave Ott.
