Senior “Halsey, now don’t forget to ring the telephone! Remem- ber what happened at dress rehearsal? ... I know I'll for- get my lines, I just know I will! . . . Where’s my garden trowel? . . Becky, did the flowers come yet?. . . Ooh! My makeup’s running! . . . Shut up and get on stage!! ’ It was the night of December 9, 1960, when the Class of ’61 presented the incomparable hit, “Father’s Been To Mars,” a comedy in three acts. Afer six hard weeks of basic training under the able direction of Mr. Jaschob. (and with a few helpful hints from Cecil B. DeKaplan, I might add) this production proved to be very successful. Tony Mazzaferro, who skillfully portrayed the riotous Captain Galaxy, and the rest of the cast are to be com- mended for their excellent acting. The entire class can pat themselves on the back for a job well done. All the hard work on the scenery and costumes helped to make this a most memorable play. However, there were some trying mo- ments. When Zizi’s cigarette fell behind the table, everyone backstage was visualizing the Greenport Fire Department desperately trying to save the auditorium. And who can forget the time the door wouldn’t open! With the closing of the play, the spry seniors journeyed to June Raymond’s house in East Marion where a most memorable (and I mean memorable) party was held. There, in appreciation for their trying efforts, the class presented June and Maury with two most useful gifts?? Into the wee hours of the morning, the seniors danced and sang until Mr. Raymond could no longer stand it and threw everyone out. Well anyway, this party was the perfect ending of a wonderful time the class of ’61 shall always remember. 12
