Under fhe capable guidance of Mr. Carruihers and ihe class officers, Bob Lamb, President Shirley Thilberg, vice-presidenig Pal' Droskoski, secrerary, and Ed Layden, Treasurer, rhe sophomores had a highly success ul year, financially and socially. Represeniing fhe class in boys sporis were Tom Breese, Bill Pell, and Donald Greenhalgh, while +he girls' 'reams were sirengfhened by Vida Unander, Helen Davis, Shirley Thilberg, and Greia Hanii. Connie Pappas, Bob Ulz, Eddie Rouse, Bill l-lorne, George Morlon, and Peier Vallely were 'rhe members oi 'rhe popular aggregaiion. Elizabelh Jarvis, Lydia Laiham, Beryl Lederle, Sue Horn, Eddie Rouse, Emma Jean Davis, Mary Chariers, Arlene Dimbal also pariicipaied in The Taleni Show. Under fhe direcfion of fheir class advisors, Mrs. Diller and Mr. Levy, 'rhe frosh gof off fo a quick s+ar+ wifh The elecfion of officers. Jim Charfers was elecfed presidenf, Charlofle Hanff, vice-presidenf, Mary Webb, secrefary, and Danny Wilson, freasurer. Sara Raynor and Jim Charfers were elecfed info Homeroom Congress. Firs'r on 'rhe agenda of freshman acfivilies was fhe S+. Pafrick's Day Dance, wifh Jack Mulhall acfing as Masfer of Ceremonies. Hal's Band supplied +he music for 'rhis firsf bu+ very successful venfure. In May, a rummage and food sale was given by 'rhe class +o raise money. G. H. S. sporfs feams were boosfed greafly by freshman bo s. Clifford Ufz, Bu+fons Krouse, Tony Volinski, Billy Tufhill, John Monfgomery, Harry Bubb, Henry Myslborski, Eddie Skrezec, Jim Afwell, Philip Proferes, and Reggie Tufhill were parficipanfs in foofball, and various ofher sporfs. Fred Gagen, Arfhur Eberling, Floyd Feldman, Jacli Mulhall, and Jos Bush also confribufed fo +he spor+s picfure. Girls in fhe class who wenf ouf for hockey, baskefball or soffball were Helen Olson, Sue Coyle, Carol La Bad, Evelyn Nichols, Alvania Whi+e, Charloffe Hanff, Barbara Thornhill, Marcella Feidler, and Sara Raynor. As +he end of fhe year approached, fhe sharpened pencils were sfubs and fhe new nofebooks were ragged, buf fhe freshmen had moved up a no+ch, and now +here's anofher page in +he memory book awaifing fhe nexf group of HSWCOFYNSFS.
