He sfuck his foof in fhe door and fried fo sell me some shoelaces a.nd coffee beans, buf I fold him fo go nexf door fo Sfella KudIinski's boarding house and fry fhere. Jusf as Bob was packing up his shoelaces nd coffee beans fo leave, someone ran ouf of S+eIIa's boarding esfablishmenf yelling Fire , The nexf fhing I knew, smoke was pouring ouf of The windows and fhe Fire Deparfmenf was on fhe scene squirfing wafer on fhe blazing inferno. Bob Cassidy drove up in fhe big red chief's car and sfarfed giving orders. Affer fhe firemen, Bruce Rackeff, John Wefmore. and Don Osfroski had puf ouf fhe fire, and everyfhing had quiefed down I refurned fo my memory book again. Seeing Don Osfroski, I fhoughf of his flourishing florisf business, which he owns ioinfly wifh someone named Kalin. Speaking of flowers, fhe Bondarchuk boys. Danny and Harry, have made a name for 'rhemselves in fhe invenf- Ing business. Harry has invenfed a work sui+ which does fhe work, and Danny has perfecfed a chocolafe soda boffle. so you can eaf while drinking. Richard Cowan, now a famous sporfswrifer, is also an amafeur invenfor, and has con- frived a sfone foofball for fhe opposing feam fo pracfice wifh before game fime. The picfures of fhe falenf show broughf fo mind Tom Mansell who is now a sfand-in for fhe famous movie sfar, Clark Gable. Tom doesn'f mind fhe job. because he gefs fo make love fo fhe forrid acfress-singer, Miss Anne Jones. Bofh happen fo be graduafes of our class of '52, Several of fhe old gang are now in far away places. Frifz Bauer fook Mr. Carrufhers liferally. and is now labor- ing in fhe Siberian salf mines. Mary Raynor has realized her life-long ambifion and is now a missionary in Africa feach- ing fhe cannibals baskef weaving. Emily Vail is fhe newly acclaimed Dorofhea Dix of Paris. She gives advice fo love-Iorn Frenchmen, Marge Tabor and Theresa Begora gof fogefher righf affer graduafion for a bicycle four of Europe. They were Iasf seen somewhere in fhe Swiss Alps. Remembering fhe good old days made me feel sorf of sad, and fo cheer myself up I wenf down fo fhe Paradise for a soda. George Proferes, fhe propriefor, was very busy ierking sodas and he fold me fhaf business has been very poor for fha lasf few weeks. I didn'+ say anyfhing, buf I happen fo know fha? one of his employees. Roberf Wagner, is eafing up all fhe profifs. Bob. in a mad desire fo gain weight, gave up his job as corrupfion advisor fo Presidenf Taff, and refurned fo fhe Paradise fo fry and puf on some pounds. As I was refurning home, I sfopped fo 'ralk wifh Carol Edgar. who has iusf refurned from Bellevue where she is an occupafional fherapisf. Affer giving fhe GHS boys so much help wifh fheir homework, she was perfecf for fhe iob. Wifh Carol was Jean Volinski, who had a few days off from fhe lighf- house. Jean leads an excifing life as keeper of 'rhe Orienf Iighf. Farfher up fhe sfreef I ran info Barbara Pilles, who is sporfing anofher engagemenf ring. Barbara is The belle of Greenporf, having been engaged sevenfeen fimes fo dafe. I also saw Connie Volinski on a scaffold in fronf of fhe A 8: P. He was painfing a sign for 'rhe manager of 'rhe sfore, Mary Jeanne Wellingfon. Mary Jeanne used fo be secrefary fo 'rhe presidenf of fhe Sourmash Chicken Feed Company, Evelyn Shepard, buf she quif because her pay was chicken feed. Evelyn is famous in chicken feed circles as fhe old hen who really makes fhem lay! When I refurned home, I found a Ieffer from Beverly Hallock awaifing me. She is over in Hawaii working on a fishing bpaf for Pell Enferprises, Inc. Her husband, who runs fhe business, ran shorf of nafives, so he puf Bev fo work. She fold me 'rhaf Tool' Mellas was also in fhe Islands. She is employed as a hula dancer af one of fhe Honolulu nighi spofs. Affer reading Bev's Ieffer, I dusfed my old memory album and replaced if in ifs corner in fhe affic. If doesn'1 seem possible, diary, fhaf fwenfy years have passed so quickly. As I look back on fhem, I realize fha? fhey have been happy years full of unforgeffable experiences, buf perhaps fhe mosf plealsanf days of all were fhose spenf af good old GHS. Our class was a good one and we had many happy fimes fogefher. We were fypical school kids, and fhe memories of our fypical school days are safisfying and pleasanf fo fhink about Here's hoping fhey will linger wifh us forever, fo give us a liff when we need if 'rhe mosf.

Midge GaTTga is now Midge WisowaTy, and she and her husband, AnThony, are ouT in EasT Marion raising poTaToes and IiTTIe Wiso- waTys. As I remember, DoroThy Andrade, class secreTary, used To have a sweeT and genTle manner. She is now sTaTioned in Tiaiuana, Mexico wiTh The Border PaTrol, and is feared by every dope smuggler and rum runner wesT of The Rockies. Along This line, Susie Lewis, The quieT, wiThdrawn member of The class is now presidenT of The local chapTer oT The W. C. T. U. JusT as I was in The middle oT my reminiscing, Helene MoTher TapperT, anoTher old classmaTe and now head of a day nursery Tor kiddies, called and said ThaT Ann Gacquin was back in Town. Ann has been Touring The counTry as a daredevil moTorcyclisT wiTh Shirley PenTz's sTupendous, marvelous and Terrific carnival. Tap also Told me ThaT Joan Brooks and Joan Copin have reTurned To k7reenporT Tor a shorT visiT. They are aT The Palace in New York billed as Brooks and Copin, Comediennes. ShorTIy aTTer I Tinished my conversafion wiTh I-Ielene, The doorbell rang and There sTood AIberT Dinizio and STan Skrezec. They are parTners in The Termife exTerminaTion business, and had come To make an inspecTion. Al Told me ThaT Ed Davis is now coaching The Yale TooTball Team, and ThaT Lawrence Mazzo plays drawback on The Old Timers pro- Tessional TooTbaIl Team Trom San Francisco. ATTer Al and WhiTey leTT, I reTurned To The aTTic and my memories. A big picTure of The senior play casT re- minded me ThaT STewarT I'IorTon has immorTalized The role oT Julius Caesar and his Roman Toga on The New Yorli sTage. Seeing The play picTure also reminded me oT poor Ronnie Prince, who is now in exile on SheITer Island, aTTer dropping a reTrigeraTor on The boss's Toe. George MaTThias, who used To work aT Levines, now owns The' place and has changed The name To MaTThias' Bargain MarkeT. Upon Turning The page, I saw The picTure oT The WashingTon Trip, which l'Il -never TorgeT. Poor Miss Fuccio and Mr. HoIT, our class advisors who wenT wiTh us - - - Miss F. is now over in ITaly sTudying The origin oT ancienT cave men, while Mr. I'IoIT has given up Teaching maThemaTics and now plays a hoT piano in Tex Beneke's band. Speaking oi Teachers, a Tew oT our number enTered ThaT dreadTul profession. Frank STepnoski is The popular hisTory Teacher aT G. H. S. now, and Barbara SaTkoski has Taken Coach Der Cola's place as driver educaTion insTrucTor. I-Ierby Jacobs. being iusT The home-boy Type aT hearT, is The home ec. Teacher, and he can burn cakes even beTTer Than Miss Fini did. A shoT oT The gym show broughT to mind Renee Vallely, who is now The gym insTrucTor. Renee Tinally learned To vaulT over The horse , and is now puTTing The girls Through Their paces. MarTha Askew, whom we all ThoughT would Turn ouT To be an All-American, gave up sporTs long ago, and is now Training M.
