As a lower school teacher, she has virtually rewritten the

her efforts to replace out-dated materials evolved into a
textbook, Discover Dallas: A Children 's Guide that is now used

SALLY ESTES ANN PERRYMAN
Sally Estes enrolled her children in grades six and three in the
fall of 1973. She and husband Bill demonstrated both their
commitment to quality education and to Greenhill by moving
their home from Bonham, Texas, to Dallas solely for the sake of
their children's schooling. She has held virtually every parent
volunteer position at Greenhill during the last fourteen years,
from room mother, writing newsletters, mimeograph machine
operator, Chairman of the Development Committee to
Chairman of the Board of Trustees. A trustee since 1976, a large
part of her responsibility today is seeking capital funds to
complete Greenhill's physical plant needs.
While president of the Parents' Association, Sally initiated
Teacher Appreciation Day, lt was during her tenure as Chairman
of the Board of Trustees that Teacher Recognition Day was
instituted. Sally has blessed Greenhill with her vast energy and
significant organizational skills. The first woman to be Chairman
of the Board, she is hailed by many as one of the most effective
chairman in the history of the school.
While she is now a driving force in articulating the school's
physical plant needs, Sally knows and has always demonstrated
that what makes Greenhill special is people - students, teachers,
and parents working together.
Ann Perryman enrolled her first son in Greenhill in lanuary of
1967. It was not long before she learned that being a Greenhill
parent offers many more opportunities than just attending parent
conferences and sitting in carpool lines. Being a parent in those
early days meant sewing tote bags to sell at the bookstore,
making costumes for school plays and even rushing a child who
had been bitten by a coral snake on a campout to the
ln the early seventies, Ann became Head of the Lower School
Resource Center. She checked out film strips, science equipment,
reading labs and books. By this time she had three sons in
Her volunteering shifted to a larger scale. She has served on
the Board of Trustees since 1978. Prior to her present position
as Chairman of the Financial Aid Committee, Ann served as Vice
Chairman of the Board for a number of years. Her roots,
however, continue to make her a constant contributor of
magazines and supplies to the Library and Art Department. From
room mother to committee chairman, Ann has experienced all
that there is to being a Greenhill parent. Even today, despite her
children having already graduated, her involvement continues.
That's the Greenhill way.
