PHYSICAL EDUCATION Due to the shortage of girls' physical education teachers, this department was minus an instructor However, the deslre to exercise and play varlous games was too great to be ignored Before the end of the first semester, Senior g1rls had been ap p01nted to direct class act1v1t1es Basketball volleyball and spring sports were instructed by Lorrame Rohr Angela Lahey, and Regina Musmaker The ent1re program was supervised by the adm1n1strat1on In add1t1on to the vars ity sport program, three physlcal educatlon classes for boys were instructed by Coach Hofmeister Wu 0 1 sis! EDUCATION Vocahonal Agrncultu re ln vocational agriculture courses Future Farmers of America are able to start learning good farming practices while still youna Emphasis was placed on animal husbandry dur ing the Freshman year Classroom discussions became practical as Freshmen kept record books of their animal projects Sophomores studied crop production while the upperclass men stressed farm management A special televised farm management program from Iowa State College was viewed daily for a week by the agri culture students Boys are chal lenged by this call of the land and some day will make their fields rich with life giving foods and their stock will be champion results Ted Robinson holds Dean Miner s ani Rxchar l Dickey s full attention as he points out the parts of the cow Eddie Christensen Frank Murphy and Darrell Jameson receive instructx from Mr R1 by Q f. Q OHS Industrial Arts Students in industrial arts take great pride in their projects Fresh- man year is devoted to exploring each section of the shop - - - woodworking, metal, leathercraft and mechanical drawing Seniors are encouraged to specialize in one particular area Smoke rolling out the door and the motor chugging along mark the suc- cess of boys in the auto mechanics division. Although weldinv occupies much of the time of the farm boys, many find their skill at intricate de- signs hammered in leather hides. Each spring this department holds an open house and displays the finished cedar chests, cabinets, desks, lamps and other projects completed during the year.
