To keep the dynamic spirit aglow in the hearts and minds of the American citizens of tomorrow, the education of today's youth must be stimulating, progressive and challenging. TYPING A -I JUNIOR BUSINESS BOOKKEEPING SHORTHAND lu Ile Meisen em er eeps the lass posted on large in SECRE TARIAL PRACTICE Though an individual does not plan to be a secretary, courses in the commercial depart- ment have a practical application in other fields of study. A semester of typing taken by the- majority of the students improve greatly the penmanship found on most term papers and reports. One of the best foreign languages to use in writing f?l notes is shorthand as practiced by the private secretaries. If the future busi- ness world needs bookkeepers, Greenfield Seniors are sure to fill the bill. They are experts now in finding lost pennies in the ledger even without the aid of adding machines. Students of secretarial practice received training in all the duties of office workers except practical experience in humoring the boss. Following the football season, Coach Hof- meister was busy getting ready for the 1954-55 basketball season. Only three letter winners were back to help the team this year. With one short week of practice under their belts, the Tigers traveled to Richland for the first test of the season. This proved to be a successful trip as the squad notched their first victory SZ to Z7. As mid season rolled around the Tigers had a little hard luck and looked a trifle rusty on the hardcourt After hard work and some extra effort, the team demonstrated a new brand of ball as they battled Red Oak to a heart break- ing loss of 59-60. Since the Tigers had finally caught fire and were playing very good ball, they were looking forward to a fairly successful sectional tourn. ment at Creston. Unfortunately, most people were disappointed as the Tigers went down to de- feat by the Creston Panthers 53 50 The boys came back to win their two re maining games and ended the season with an eight won and eight lost record KNEELING B Ruth G Newton D Elliott T Nielson L Reis B MCVay L Jensen STAND ING M Erbes D Headley D Adamson L Hohertz C Jensen B Lents D Holaday Coach Hofmeister 86 . . n - - v - 1 - , . , . , . , . . - ' - 1 - v - f f , . , . , . , Adamson Elllott Newton Jensen Rems Ruth Lents Hoadley McVay Maynes Holaday Mlller Jensen Hohertz Erbes Va rslfy Record S TATISTICS MD MS Freshman Sophomore Squad 252. 85 Pe kham o1Co Do so Txpe ce er battle for the up o KNEELING: L.
