Other improvements that were also completed this summer included the new two stall garage which houses our three new busses, and also a new sidewalk. The improvements didn't just take place in the summer, however, for since school has started the school board has purchased many new and useful things. Among these are the three sewing machines, fifty steel lockers, an electric vegetable peeler for the home economics room. For the athletic department a clothes dryer was purchased, In the commercial room there are now fifteen new typewriters for use. Our newest improvement is the new scoreboard which was just recently installed. Tiger Tales' Staff initi ates the fifteen new Un derwood typewriters. Dale and Russell are proud of the 600 pounds of pop corn they popped with the new G- Club and Hi-Y machine. il 'W. 'Kg .Eg -,,-,. Three new busses and garage extension. - ?' iI, f',Yy 5 A A , , .. As people of every organization, creed, or nationality they nominated and elected boys and girls to help them find their way through trouble and enjoyment dur- ing their Freshman year. lc 2 g' Initiation was a very hilarious event of which they were mistaken for babies highlighted by costumes composed of ' -, , the following: long underwear worn under short skirts or 'f' il t shorts. They carried teething rings, baby bottles, rattles, J and dolls, They wore the traditional green beanies decorated with white lace. It was followed by a welcome party that PAT MUSMAKER evenins' PRESIDENT Here's hoping that the Freshmen get through all of their subjects and graduate in 54 as students of proud parents. Tiger Tales-3rd publication Under the guidance of Leanore Abbott, editor-in-chief, the 1951 Tiger Tales staff assembled 83 pages of pictures and copy for the third yearbook of GHS. Many pictures and innumerable sheafs of manuscript were wedged into a two month production period, As those on the staff can testify, putting out a yearbook is quite often more work than some people think. Many man hours and a lot of effort went into the Tiger Tales to come out an accurate account of a high school year portrayed in words and pictures. Also bringing out proof of the work were the occasional moans of anguish which echoed from the editors as they encountered new obstacles and barriers. But, in spite of the all-night 1 ?l sessions in the typing room, mem- bers of the Tiger Tales staff experienced great satisfaction in working on the annual. ROW 1, N. Lisk, J. I Coach Dick Butler Basketball-Baseball i 1 lil .,,. m .mm 1 m Basketball team sets new record for Greenfield High Aweaaorzi' ganna Starting what seemed to be an average season, the Greenfield Tigers built quite a reputation for themselves by tournament time. In one of the first games of the sea- son the Tiger quintet astounded everyone by defeating a powerful Atlantic team 33-30. Soon after that the Greenfield team defeated Creston in a game which was extended into two overtirne s. Greenfield suffered its first defeat of the season to the Winterset five. This ruined an undefeated record d nine games. The Tigers met and defeated another Hawkeye Seven team when they played Corn- ing and won 58-45. This meant that the Greenfield five had defeated three teams that were in this strong conference. Another exciting game was with Red Oak. The strong Red Oak 'team led most of the way, but during the last quarter the Tigers started to close the margin. Time ran out, however, ending the game with the score of 48-42 for our second de- feat.
