a' The qualities which command respect and admiration for a teacher by his students are many and varied. They include the more obvious traits of a thorough knowledge of his sub- ject and a keen ability to transmit this knowledge to his students, but they also include many less obvious traits as well ... an interest in each of us as individuals, extending beyond the classroom, warmly and openly expressed; a friendly persuasion which shows us how to disci- pline ourselves not only inclass but in our lives. This wonderously rare combination of talents evokes a response from us which lasts long after the last bell has rung, die last regents paper marked; it gives us a model after which we may all one day pattern our lives. We have found these qualities to one degree and another in many of die teachers and people we have met while at GSC, but in one person we found them most particularly. We take this chance to thank him for all he has shown us, for all those things which go beyond the sum of the squares on a hypotenuse. It is with great admiration and deep respect that the Class of 1973 dedicates this 1973 Greenelite to Mr. Charles Haughey 3
