TABLE OF CONTENTS Dedication page 3 Introduction 4 Administration 10 Seniors 13 Faculty 49 Underclasses 61 Sports 81 Activities 111 Advertisers 133 Epilogue 156 Credits: The lines used through our Introduction and Epilogue are reprinted with the permission of Cazenovia College, Cazenovia, N. Y., all rights reserved; we are deeply grateful. 2 a' The qualities which command respect and admiration for a teacher by his students are many and varied. They include the more obvious traits of a thorough knowledge of his sub- ject and a keen ability to transmit this knowledge to his students, but they also include many less obvious traits as well ... an interest in each of us as individuals, extending beyond the classroom, warmly and openly expressed; a friendly persuasion which shows us how to disci- pline ourselves not only inclass but in our lives. This wonderously rare combination of talents evokes a response from us which lasts long after the last bell has rung, die last regents paper marked; it gives us a model after which we may all one day pattern our lives. We have found these qualities to one degree and another in many of die teachers and people we have met while at GSC, but in one person we found them most particularly. We take this chance to thank him for all he has shown us, for all those things which go beyond the sum of the squares on a hypotenuse. It is with great admiration and deep respect that the Class of 1973 dedicates this 1973 Greenelite to Mr. Charles Haughey 3 To Behold a Whole New Day Aborning To Heed the Call of Dawn's Creation To Peer Inward and See Soul To Gaze Outward and See Hope To Feel New Meaning in the Life You Know To Wonder at the Life You Are About To Know To Quest For Who You Are and What You Are To Be s To Find Purpose in Being To Sense Challenge in Becoming To Imagine Yourself a Star in the Heavens To See Adventure in Flights Transitory To See Eternity in Truths Immutable To Reach To Touch To Know 9 MRS. THOMSON MR. THOMAS MR. BARTON President GREENE CENTRAL SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION DR. GILROY MR. BROOKS MR. ROBERT N. BENNETT District Principal Mr. Bennett came to GreeneCentral School in 1955 when most of our Senior Class was just being bom. His seventeen years of service here are the culmination of over twenty-five years of experience as a Dis- trict Principal. He has guided our school district through periods of growth and expansion as we have added new buildings, new courses, new students and faculty. His ever present smile and friendly greeting to all, as well as his habit of bringing us to school through all the snow, will long be remembered fondly by each of us in the school and community. As he leaves this school with us in June for a change of pace and a well deserved rest, we wish him every best wish for his retirement, and say 'Thanks' for all the things he has done to make our school the place it is today. MR. ROLAND F. WOLFORD High School Principal To the Class of 1973 I find it very difficult to address you as a class because I see you as individuals - over a hundred unique persons. More than any other class you have held on to your individual identities. At times your behavior has been outright selfish. Then again, you have exhibited social concern and the highest degree of co- operative effort. You havepassed through high school at a time when perhaps a person’s doing his thing has been overemphasized. True, conformity can stifle creativity and be a threat to individual existence but aloof individualism ts lonely and lacking in satisfaction. To live a full life. I believe each of us’ must give up a little individuality and compromise with society. What are you willing to give’ Sincerely, 12 MRS. MARGARET ROSS Class Advisor For your countless efforts, the time, the worries, the traumas, . . . perhaps most of all for the patienceand endurance with us . . . we are deeply grateful to you and we're glad you were with us thisyear. - The Class of 1973 CLASS OFFICERS Presidents Eileen Gilroy Kim Shapley Vice President Tina Klecha Secretary Bonnie Sternbergh Treasurer Bill Hoag 14 BRENDA BADGER DEBBIE BARROWS SUE BARTON VICKIE ANN BARROWS FRED AMELL RANDY J. None of us can decide which of us shall live and which of us shall die. Carla, Jack, and Gracia have had life, and we will always have the memories of the good times we spent together. We will all go on from Greene Central School with these memories of their friendship, but each of us will go out with the feeling that our world is somehow diminished by their untimely loss.
