Text from Pages 1 - 96 of the 1961 volume:

Dedication As we, the Class of 1961, look toward the culmination of our school years, we recall the individuals who have made them memorable. High on this list is Roland Wolford. Doc's quiet influence has been felt among the students and faculty of Greene Central, and through the community, for the time and energy which he has expended in each of their interests has been deeply appreciated. His genuine interest and understanding have established him as a welcome friend and advisor in all student activities. It is with the deepest respect and gratitude that the Class of 1961 dedicates the 1961 Greene Lite to Mr. Wolford. Board of Education SEATED: Mrs. I. Flanagon, Mr. George Raymond, Jr., Miss L. Flanagon. STANDING: Mr. H. Weir, Mr. F. McLean, Mr. J. Burrows, Mr. C. Race. ROBERT N. BENNETT TO THE CLASS OF 1961: Six years ago you started junior high school and I started here as your Supervising Principal. It has been a pleasure to watch you grow and proceed on the educational ladder. The people of Greene have given you the opportunity to gain the basic edu- cation for college or work and trust that you have gained from your experiences. Our hope is that you will succeed in your chosen fields and that you will be a credit to your Alma Mater. Our best wishes go with you. TO THE CLASS OF 1961: Yours is the first clcss to receive your total high school education in the new building. Your secondary school experience has come during a period which has insisted upon im- proving the quality of education. It is our wish that together with improved quality there has been im- parted to you the attitude that, how well informed you continue to be throughout life, not just what you know today, is the real test of a quality education. ANDREW W. PEARL Administration SEATED: Mr. Pearl, Mr. Bennett, Mr. Eldred. STANDING: Mr. Race, Mr. Hopkins. 5 Congratulations to all members of the class of 1961--you have a- chieved a great milestone toward adulthood. It is my sincere wish that whatever walk of life you pursue, your words, actions, and unselfish service will bring honor and dis- tinction to your school, community, and country. ROBERT C.
