Three foreign languages-El Espanol, .atina, and Le Francais-are offered at '.H.S. Approximately 125 students make lp the language department, which is headed Miss Minna Mae Bartley. Pupils learn t only vocabularies and grammar but also ne customs and the history of the foreign ountry. English is a requirement for Freshmen, ophomores, and Juniors. These underclass- ien are placed into academic or general ourses and are taught one semester of rammar and one of literature. College- ound seniors may take both Grammar and 'omposition and English Literature. Mrs. tharlotte Peterson directs the department 9hich includes 475 students. The Home Economics Department also boasts new equipment and spacious rooms in the new building. Here girls learn basic cooking and sewing methods under the direc-l tion of Miss Elizabeth McClure and Mrs. Louise Johnson. Training in industrial arts gives boys a chance to put skill and knowledge to work. Courses offered in this department, under the head of Mr. John McCullough, are printf ing, drafting, woodwork, auto mechanics, metal shop, vocational building trades, and vocational machine shop.
