Enter To Learn . As seniors ready to leave high school, the slogan in our front hall has a more significant meaning than the first time we looked at it. We realize that we have learned many things - in our classes, in our social activities, and in our association with fellow students and teachers. Suddenly the last part of the slogan becomes very important. lt reminds us that we have an obliga- tion to fullfil. We leave our beautiful new school with con- flicting emotions . . . memories of many happy times, regret at leaving classmates and teachers, yet eager anticipation of experiences ahead. Out of A Dream . wif lik ffl Mrs Ballard participates in ground break mg Ceremony Dreams of a new high school came a step closer to realization when, in October, 1956, the Green- castle School Building Corporation was farmed As time went on many hours were spent by the Board of School Trustees the student body the fac ulty and the administration in planning the new building to fit the needs of the community at the present time and in the future The first spade of dirt was turned in the cere mony on May 21 1958 leading the way to the lay ing of the Cornerstone on October 8 ofthe same year On November 11 12 and 13 the citizens of Greencastle were given a chance to see the new build ing during an extended Open House During this time students acted as guides and lecturers for visitors Dedication ceremonies were held on Sunday afternoon November 15 in the new gym with Mr Royce Kurtz superintendent of schools presiding The principal address was given by Dr Russell Humbert President of DePauw The beautiful and functional building stands as a symbol of the community 5 aspirations to give their children a chance to Enter To Learn Depart To Serve 5.
