Variety Of Convos Proves Entertaining This year the students at G. H. S. were privileged to have many interesting convocations. Commemorating a special occasion dear to the hearts of Hoosiers, Dr. Frank Travis, retired Methodist minister, gave an account of the life of Abraham Lincoln. This program marked the l5Oth anniversary of Lincoln's birth. A nation wide occurrence is Youth Week. This year we were fortunate in having Rosa Page Welsh, a famous concert singer from Chicago, as our speaker. In a series of three convos, Mrs. Welsh gave talks on the teen-ager of today and his relations with God. A variety of other programs was presented. Miss Namoura, an experienced folk dancer, entertained us with delightful Burmese, Indian, and Spanish folk dances. The boys were especially interested in the program pre- sented by popular race car driver, Don Freeland. Mr. Freeland's talk emphasized safety on highway. For an intriguing change, Mr. Bogarous displayed his artistic ability by giving a demonstration on sculpturing. School skits, movies, Public Service demonstrations, and many other programs provided us with much enjoy- ment and enriched our minds with grateful knowledge. l I Dr. Travis helped us celebrate Lincoln's birthday. 'l5 Even the famed Zorro arrived to help sell the Minaret ! Lita Namoura delighted the student body with a presentation of Oriental dances. i AQ marvelous
