PING? glrf HGJQTVZJ Kuff The Girl Reserves, better known as the Blue Tri, is in reality a Junior Y W C A The club has a membership of seventeen girls between the ages of sixteen and eighteen Mrs Donald Henry is our adult adviser and under her leadership we have sponsored many projects The officers are president, Judy Friend, vice-president, Ruth Black, sec retary, Jean Eitelyorge, and treasurer, Ellen Ferguson Other senior members are Rosalie Hutcheson, Mary L Brown, Marylee Aker, Kathryn Boyd, and Noleen Mars The Girl Reserves have come a long way this year and they hope to attain even higher goals next year Each year ten seniors and five Juniors are selected as members of the National Honor Society Judgment is based on four traits SCHOLARSHIP, LEADERSHIP, SERVICE AND CHARACTER The Juniors selected last year were Bill Lockwood, Robert Pi rson, Robert Strain, John Ross, and Wayne Terry This year the following seniors were select ed for this honor Emma Thomas, Marileen Terry, Dorothy Rossock, Norman Evens, James Conrad, Ruth Eitelgorge, Kathleen Ragsdale, James Bamberger, Carol Cash, and Martha Tucker e fffahonaf -ffonor .Coclefy 9' ff' A 28 J as Q y I . - 7 1 S Q ... 5, ' ,., , -A' va sg A ,Q iii 6- 1:1 ' Y ' ' f ' 'R vw - fi 4N J . Kane! capeffa Our senior class certainly has its share of talented music students, both in vocal and the instrumental fields Mary Lou Scott has been soloist with the A Cappella Choir several times in the selection HSummertime Mary Lou also had a solo part in the op eretta Carol Cash and Mary Lou Brown have been in the choir for two years while Betty Lee and Jimmy Proffit are newer additions this year Jean Eitelyorge and Eileen Mahoney have worked on the technical side as well as the musical side of choir work Jean, secretary of the group, was in charge of properties for the operetta and Eileen did some specialty dances in a patriotic program with the choir Bill Lockwood, president of the choir, has had a solo part in the operetta for the last two years and was soloist when In the band, John Ross has played first choir French horn for two years and twice won second division in a State Contest He also played horn this year in the DePauw orchestra Jim Proffit has played first cornet two years in the band Bill Lockwood, president of the band, won for two years first division on oboe in the state contest and he has also played first oboe in the DePauw University Symphony Robert Pierson, first bass in the band, was soloist with the band on piano and won first division in State Con test on piano Bob Strain has played first baritone for three years and has been a contest winner for the last two years Bill Sweeney, last but not least, has been play ing trombone for three years and last summer was soloist with the band 27 . ll the choir presented nThe Seven Last Words of Christn for Easter.

4 ff Qulgmg eams Greencastle High School has one of the best agriculture departments in the state of Indiana We also can boast of one of the best agriculture teachers in the state, Gene Akers Mr Akers is now teaching his sixth year in G H S and every year he has pro duced 4 H judging teams that have placed very high in state competition This year is no exception The dairy Judging team,composed of Bob Hoffman, Dick Hoffman, Carl Strain, and Bill Wilde placed first in the district contest held April 10 at the Indiana State Farm The lifestock Judging group composed of Norman Evens, Alva Cash, Bob Strain and Jendell Brattin placed second in the same contest Also winning second was Gene Harlan who gave a demonstration on painting The poultry and egg judging team which is com posed of Smith Abbott, Earl Foxx, James Reasor, and Carl Foxx placed fourth in the dis trict By virture of their winnings all these groups will advan e to the state finals to be held this summer NORMAN EVENS WINS SCHOLORSHIP Norman Evens, vocational agriculture student at G H S, topped off his 4 H honors by receiving a four year scholar ship to Purdue University The scholarship was presented Norman on the basis of his achievement record which was one of the best among thousands of Hoosier boys and girls in 4 H work This award is considered the top honor in 1+ H ranks Congratulations, Norman NORMAN EVENS 29 .I - . 3 W Q I , Y .
