.gnhamuraf Ciaampioru Front Row, left to right Gene Harlan, coach, Tom Hardwick, captain, Bud Monnett, Bob Knauer Second Row Jack Gruenholz, Jake Hirt, and Phil Hays Jerry Grimes, another member of the team, was absent when the picture was taken This year there has been a very complete intramural program for both boys and and there were some very exciting games played The teams played until there were five teams tied with the record of five games won and one game lost These five teams formed a tourney in which there was some very heated competition All three senior home rooms were involved in the play off but the boys from Mrs Stevens' finally won the title The winners had to play three games in the play off winning from Pruitt's, Adams' and Daggy's home rooms and ended the season with the record of eight wins and one lost game Coach 'Slug Harlan usually used a starting line up consisting of Tom Hardwick and Jerry Grimes as guards, Jake at the center post, and Bob Knauer and Bud Monnett at the forward positions Jack Gruenholz and Phil Hays often proved to be very valuable substitutes 20 girls. inor .gporli The boys taking part in minor sports at Greencastle High School have not had mucn of a chance to show their skills yet this spring Because of the difficulties in trans portation, there are only a few meets scheduled in golf, tennis, softball and track Greencastle has always been well represented in all these spring sports and whenever they do have a meet you can count on them coming out in good shape In golf Tommy Hardwick is the only senior player on the team Tommy has played high school golf for four years and two years ago he was a member of the team which won the South Central Conference crown and should be watched in any tennis meet The track team, which has a few meets scheduled, has only a few seniors on the team James Conrad and Clifford Hanlon are the only seniors, both being four year men These boys are very valuable to the team and will be missed next year The softball team, which always shows up well in the South Central Conference, has several games scheduled but, because of the weather, none have been played at press time Paul Black, George Westfall, George Braden and Lloyd Scobee are the only seniors on the softball team Fred Fechtman is the coach of all these groups 19 In tennis Jimmie Bamberger is the only senior member.
